nothing all that interesting...

John Mark is just getting bigger and more mobile with every passing day. He has become quite the expert crawler, and he loves to crawl away during his diaper changes. This led to him going potty on the floor at mom and dad's this weekend, and then pooping on the floor at home Sunday night. I know... story of his life, right? You know- I bet one day he's going to really appreciate that I told the entire Internet these wonderful poop related stories. I know I would be thrilled if my mother had a record of all the embarrassing things I ever did... not that the pictures she took weren't bad enough. But that's another story.

John Mark is also getting really good at pulling up and cruising. I think some days he is just so frustrated that he can't just get up and run. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm going to just look up and see him run by. His fun new trick did lead to his first bump on his head, and bloody lip. He missed the coffee table at mom & dad's this weekend. But he was very brave and only cried for a little while. Soon he was back to crawling everywhere and chewing on everything. I was very relieved.

At his last doctor appointment he hadn't gained enough weight (seriously) so we're feeding him even more. This kid loves to eat. I think he would just sit in his high chair and eat all day long if I would let him. But now he eats 5 jars of baby food and a container of applesauce every day. That doesn't count the puffies and cheerios he eats too! He's a good eater, and I'm so thankful for that!

I almost forgot the most exciting news- John Mark said "mama!" He doesn't necessarily say it to me, and it sounds more like "mom-uh" but it is the most precious sound in the world and it completely melts my heart each time I hear it. He is an amazing little person, and I love him more with each passing day.

water babies for life!

We have had a blast taking a water babies class at the YMCA with a bunch of our friends from church. After the first puking adventure, things have settled down for us. John Mark loves to play and splash in the water with his friends. It's such a blessing to have wonderful friends to hang out and play with. This is everyone in the class, except for Jamie & Caroline.

Because of this class, John Mark is making some new friends. Here he is with one of his many girlfriends, Cassady. She likes him so much that she kept giving him kisses in the water during class. It seems I remember another little girl who used to give out kisses during class... :o)

This is John Mark's other friend, Will and his mom Kristin. William was born the week before John Mark. He is a lot of fun. I love that they are both eating the toy letters. We have had fun getting to know Will and Kristin better, especially since we're about to be neighbors!

just like mommy

These pictures of John Mark and Jonas are from JJ's page. I think that when placed in this order, you can see that they will be friends JUST like their mommies!

john mark: "no, Jonas... THIS is how you do it. come on. get it right."

jonas: "don't you tell me what to do, string bean!"

both mothers: "not again. you 2 kiss and make up!"

easter and water baby adventures

Well, we had a great- albeit COLD- Easter weekend in Central High with my family. We got to see a lot of old friends, and a lot of family too. I think John Mark definitely enjoyed his first Easter. He looked so cute in his Easter outfit too! We didn't have an Easter egg hunt because we didn't think John Mark would really get it. He did play with a few random plastic eggs that his Aunt Kim brought for him.

On Saturday we got to eat lunch with our friends Eric & Jonas. They are sweet boys and they all did so good at the restaurant. After lunch we went to a baby shower for Lauren & Madalyn Reid. My friend Kristin had them in February. This is a picture of 5 of us who all had babies within the past year. Pretty good considering we only graduate with 30 people total!

We're taking a water babies class at the Y on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a bunch of our friends from church. I think there's 8 of us... it's going to be tons of fun. I say "going to be" because, of course, John Mark always has a story. Apparently along with being tall and skinny, he inherited my "beacon" for strange things.

John Mark had been a little sick on Monday, but he was fine all day Tuesday. So we got all dressed in his cute little swimmy shorts and headed off to class. He was in a great mood... crawling around, playing with Caroline. Then we started walking towards the pool- and it happened. He puked EVERYWHERE. I'm talking massive amounts... it gave the girl in 6th sense a run for her money... so, we packed up and drove home smelling like soured sweet potatoes. Either John Mark was sicker than I thought, or he has developed a disgusting way of getting out of water babies... I'll let you know tomorrow!

nashville, the end

Our last day in Nashville was spent relaxing and getting ready for our long drive home. The boys stayed home and watched John Mark while Kelly and I went to get our nails done (you'll see later during this day that this was me being sneaky...). While we were there, John Mark pulled himself up for the very first time. It is now one of his favorite things to do. In fact, he's holding onto the desk right now "dancing" to the music I have playing.

We went and ate lunch, then we went to the most unbelievable office you have ever seen. This man lives across the street from James and Vickie, and to say that he is a hunter is a bit of an understatement. This is John Mark with an actual hippo head that was on this man's wall. There was a lion, bears, a meerkat... it was seriously intense!

After that, we took a golf cart tour of the golf course the Callison's live on. It was beautiful. I told Micah that if we ever have to move anywhere, I wouldn't mind living in Tennessee. John Mark of course liked riding in the golf cart. We joked that he liked to feel the wind blowing in his few hairs.

And then the fun began... the night we had all been waiting for the entire week (well, except for Kelly- but she was supposed to be clueless)- THE SHOWBOAT. See, I had known for quite a while that Chris was planning on proposing. I had to keep it a secret... but I made it my own personal mission to get Kelly all prepped without telling her. So I helped her pick out a new dress... we got manicures... had fancy hair and makeup... all without giving it away.

The plan was set. We were ready. I had the ring in my purse. I knew when to hand off to Chris. It was my job to tell Kelly to go take a picture with Chris. Then he would get on one knee and propose. A perfect plan... then Chris froze. So this is the picture taken. Notice Chris' hand in his pocket. Then Kelly walks away to take my picture... I'm saying "no, no" and Chris is on one knee grabbing her hand. She finally turned around, he asked her if she wanted to be a Wehunt... she said no (not really... it was the incredulous, you don't have the ring kind of no) and then said yes... it was so much fun!!!

Then we all got called on stage during the show and had to dance the funky chicken. Micah got made fun of by the host of the show... we all laughed really hard. Everyone on the boat congratulated Chris and Kelly for the rest of the night because it was announced that they got engaged.

And that's our trip to Nashville. We drove home on Friday. The car ride home was of course fun and hilarious, in a way that only a road trip with Chris and Kelly could be. We are so thankful that we got to take this trip with them, and be part of such a special night. We loved every bit of it.

And I kept a secret. Write that down- it may be the first time in history.

nashville the 4th &5th

Tuesday morning took us to the Pancake Pantry to eat breakfast. This place has every kind of pancake you can imagine- sweet potato, caribbean, blueberry... and they were GOOD! It must be good, there was a line around the outside of the building by the time we left. Apparently a lot of famous people eat there too, but we didn't run into any. After we ate, we walked around a little and just checked out the area. We went into a cool old book store and some fun little shops.

And then we hit Lynchburg to tour to Jack Daniels' distillery. I know, I'm sure you're thinking that is a little weird. I thought so too, but it was actually really interesting. I mean, it's a lot of work to make that stuff. We saw every step of the process and where they do each part of it. Here's an interesting fact for you- the distillery is located right in the center of a dry county. I bet you didn't know that did you?

On Wednesday, we decided to let John Mark have a day of rest. The poor guy had been drug all over the country and was getting just a little grumpy. So James & Vickie sweetly offered to watch him while the 4 of us ran around downtown. It was a really fun day. We went in all the really random souvenir shops, took a lot of really random pictures (I'll spare you most of them) and ate some more really good food.

Oh, one actually cool thing we did was walk across this really long bridge. Apparently it's the longest non-traffic bridge in America... or the state of TN... or something like that. I don't really know- it's just really long! There were a lot of people running across it, and I know that I wouldn't want to have to run across it!!

We ate supper at a steak restaurant that was really, really good. The boys bought us flowers as we were leaving. Earlier in the day, we'd stopped by the Wildhorse for some fried pickles (I told you, I'm slightly addicted!) and we got our hands stamped to come back and listen to a concert. It was a really good concert- he was even from Oklahoma! That pretty much sums up those 2 days in Nashville.... only one more day left!
