update

Well, there's not really a whole lot for me to post about right now. Today I am 14 weeks, which officially begins my 2nd trimester. The baby is about 3 1/2 inches long- about the size of a lemon.

I'm not really showing at all- but there is a little something there that isn't there normally. Some of my dress pants that fit me a little tighter don't exactly button anymore... so I've pulled the old "rubber band" trick to hold them up!

I've decided that my first true craving was sausage balls. I made a batch of them pretty much every week from November through Christmas. I still have random sausage cravings- sausage biscuits, sausage pizza, sausage toaster sandwiches from sonic... it's an interesting craving. I have also found that I have an aversion to coffee. I LOVE coffee and starbucks coffee drinks- but the smell of it is just gross to me now.

Our next appointment is Feb. 10th. At this appointment we will make the next ultrasound appointment to find out boy or girl. We'll definitely keep you posted!

finding out

Let's just say that baby Rigdon was quite the surprise! I had been feeling sick to my stomach for a couple of weeks, and finally Micah told me that I should go to the doctor. We thought that maybe I had an ulcer...

So I went in and the doctor did all the poking and asking questions. When he asked if there was a chance I was pregnant, I said that I supposed there was... so he had a pregnancy test done in the mix of all the other blood tests. I heard him tell the receptionist to make me an appointment with an x-ray clinic to check for an ulcer, but to make certain the test results had come back negative for pregnancy...

Fast forward to Monday- I spent the day climbing up and down scaffolding, painting the new offices at church, waiting for the phone call. At 2:00, the office calls me with an appointment time for the x-ray clinic. I make the assumption (NEVER assume with a doctor office) that this means that they have received the results and I wasn't pregnant. So I call Micah... tell everyone at the office... "No baby! Just an ulcer..." And I went about my day, putting the idea of a baby out of my mind. Then, at 4:50, my phone rings again- the doctor's office number again. I answered the phone, and the conversation went something like this:

DOCTOR- "Is this Stephanie?"
ME- "Yes..."
DOCTOR- "We've cancelled your appointment for Wednesday. We got your test results back, and they show that you are pregnant."
ME- (long pause...) "WHAT!?!!" (this said in a very high pitched voice...)
DOCTOR- "Did you know?"
ME- "NO!" (again, incredibly high pitched)
DOCTOR- "Well... congratulations..."
ME- "Thanks..."

and I hung up the phone, grabbed my stuff and ran out of the office. I'm sure the poor receptionist thought she had given me the worst news EVER... I was really just in the biggest shock EVER.

After I left the office, I tried and tried to call Micah, but of course, his cell phone was dead. I called Marcy and told her the news and she calmed me down enough to actually drive home and park the car. I paced the kitchen until I finally heard Micah's car in the garage. I threw open the door and saw Micah walking out to the curb. Again, another funny conversation:

ME- "MICAH... What are you doing?!!!"
MICAH- "getting the trash can..."
ME- "WELL... get up here."
...so Micah puts the trash can up and runs up to the door...
ME- "We're having a baby... The doctor called and I'm pregnant..."
MICAH- "awesome..."

Then we both walked around in shock for the next few hours... ate dinner with Bryan and Natalie... and then I attempted Bible study. The reality has finally set in and we are beyond excited. There are other funny stories of telling people, but I will save that for another day.
